A blonde, a brunette, and a redhead walk up to a barre…
Founder, Executive Director, Board President, and Teacher
Graduating with a degree in Musical Theater from Samford University in Birmingham, AL, Catherine or Mizz KT, as her students like to call her, has been around theater and the stage for most of her life. After graduating, she toured with two Theater Companies, including Missoula Children’s Theater (the nation’s largest touring Children’s Theater) for a year. After completing her tour, she settled in Nashville, TN, where she fell in love with writing for the stage, screen, and music and teaching the performing arts to children. She taught ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop at Amazing Grace Dance School for many years, and created an entire music, theater, and creative writing program at the Brentwood Family YMCA Preschool. After several years of successfully singing, songwriting, and acting in Nashville, she decided to focus her efforts on Children’s Entertaiment, where she now does Mizz KT and Friendz, a theatrical puppet show with original music that is performed both on screen and on stage, most notably the Nashville Downtown Library. Catherine opened Setting the Stage Studio with Becky Sullivan and Katherine Tyler in the hopes of creating a community of young artists who want to shine their light into the world.
